The Charge Port's Take

Who the Recon is for
The Recon is Jeep's electric off-roader: a five-seat midsize SUV that Jeep calls the first fully electric Trail Rated Jeep, with doors and rear glass you can remove without tools. The Moab version on sale now has 33-inch tires, 9.1 inches of ground clearance, a rear electronic locker and a Rock mode, plus 670 hp. It makes most sense for buyers who will use that hardware off-road. For long highway trips, its 222-mile EPA range and adapter-dependent Supercharger access are real compromises.
Price and the Moab trim
Jeep lists one configuration, the Recon Moab, at $65,000 before a $1,995 destination fee, which is why jeep.com headlines a $66,995 starting price. Jeep's site says limited quantities are available. Its spec sheet also mentions an Overland trim, but Jeep hasn't given it a price or an on-sale date, and EPA has rated only the Moab. The Recon is built at Stellantis' Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico. No federal EV tax credit applies; it ended September 30, 2025.
Range and efficiency
EPA rates the Recon Moab at 222 miles on a full charge. Its EPA efficiency figure is 48 kWh per 100 miles; among the SUVs in our database with an EPA efficiency figure, only the VinFast VF 9 Plus uses more energy per mile. Jeep lists a 100.5 kWh battery, so the modest range comes from high consumption rather than a small pack. Plan on less than 222 miles at sustained highway speed, in freezing weather and especially when towing.
Charging and Supercharger access
The Recon uses a CCS1 charge port rather than a native NACS port. Stellantis opened Tesla V3 and V4 Superchargers to its EVs, the 2026 Recon included, on March 19, 2026, using the Free2move Charge NACS-CCS1 DC adapter that jeep.com sells as Mopar part 82219517AA; Jeep's own Recon charging page still says that access is coming 'soon'. CCS1 networks such as Electrify America, EVgo and ChargePoint need no adapter. Jeep quotes its charging times over a 5–80% window instead of the 10–80% we use to compare EVs, and publishes no peak DC rate, so we don't list a charge time.
Off-road hardware and practicality
Jeep says the Recon's doors, rear quarter glass and swing-gate glass come off without tools, and an optional Sky One-Touch power top opens the roof. Two 250 kW drive modules make 670 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque, and Jeep quotes 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds in Sport mode. The Recon tows 3,300 pounds, carries an 850-pound payload and has 30.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the 60/40 rear bench, plus a 3.0-cubic-foot front trunk. It seats five.
How it compares
Rivian's R1S is the pricier, more road-trip-friendly alternative, with seven seats, 289 to 410 miles of EPA range across its current trims and a native NACS port. Rivian's smaller R2 Performance AWD matches the Recon's 3.6-second 0-60 and is rated at 307 to 330 miles for $57,990 before destination. What neither offers is the Recon's removable doors and Trail Rated off-road kit. If you want an electric Jeep built for trails first and highways second, the Recon is the one to look at.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does the 2026 Jeep Recon cost?
The 2026 Jeep Recon lists at $65,000 MSRP for the Recon Moab. With Jeep's $1,995 destination fee, that comes to $66,995 before tax, registration and options. We track one representative configuration of this model, so other trims can cost more.
What is the range of the 2026 Jeep Recon?
EPA rates the 2026 Recon Moab at 222 miles on a full charge, with an efficiency figure of 48 kWh per 100 miles. Jeep's spec sheet mentions an Overland trim, but EPA hasn't rated it and Jeep hasn't priced it. Expect less than 222 miles at sustained highway speed, in freezing weather and when towing.
How fast does the Jeep Recon accelerate 0-60 mph?
Jeep quotes 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds for the Recon Moab in Sport mode. Two 250 kW drive modules make 670 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque, and Jeep's spec sheet lists a curb weight of 6,112 pounds. The Recon is rated at 222 miles of EPA range.
How long does the Jeep Recon take to DC fast-charge?
Jeep hasn't published a 10–80% fast-charging time for the Recon, the window we use to compare EVs. Its published charging times use a 5–80% window instead, and it lists no peak DC charging rate, so we don't list a comparable time. The Recon charges on CCS1 fast chargers, and on Tesla V3 and V4 Superchargers with the NACS-CCS1 adapter Stellantis opened to it on March 19, 2026.
Does the Jeep Recon have a Tesla (NACS) charging port?
No. The Recon has a CCS1 port rather than a native NACS port. It can still use Tesla V3 and V4 Superchargers with the Free2move Charge NACS-CCS1 DC adapter (Mopar part 82219517AA), which Stellantis opened to the 2026 Recon on March 19, 2026, although jeep.com's Recon page still describes that access as coming 'soon'. Jeep hasn't announced a native-NACS Recon.
Does the Jeep Recon have removable doors?
Yes. Jeep says the Recon's doors, rear quarter glass and swing-gate glass can be removed without tools, and an optional Sky One-Touch power top opens the roof. The Moab also has 33-inch tires, 9.1 inches of ground clearance, a rear electronic locker and a Rock mode, and Jeep calls it the first fully electric Trail Rated Jeep.
How much can the Jeep Recon tow?
Jeep rates the Recon Moab to tow 3,300 pounds, with an 850-pound payload. Towing cuts an EV's range sharply, and the Recon starts from a 222-mile EPA rating, so plan charging stops well inside that figure when you hitch up a trailer.
How much cargo space does the Jeep Recon have?
Jeep lists 30.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, plus a 3.0-cubic-foot front trunk under the hood. The rear bench splits 60/40 and folds for longer loads, and the Recon seats five. Payload is rated at 850 pounds, counting passengers and cargo.
Jeep Recon vs Rivian R1S: which is better?
They suit different buyers. The Recon is the dedicated off-roader, with removable doors, a Trail Rated badge and a 3.6-second 0-60 for $65,000 before destination. Rivian's R1S costs more but seats seven, has 289 to 410 miles of EPA range across its current trims against the Recon's 222, and a native NACS port. Choose the Recon for trails, the R1S for family road trips.
Is the Jeep Recon available with all-wheel drive?
Yes — the Jeep Recon configuration in our database is all-wheel drive, using a second motor for better traction in snow/rain and faster acceleration than a comparable single-motor EV. Our database lists one representative configuration per model, not a complete trim table. A single-motor version may also be offered, so confirm the drivetrain on the exact trim you're configuring.
How many people does the Jeep Recon seat?
The Jeep Recon seats 5.
Does the 2026 Jeep Recon qualify for a federal EV tax credit?
No. The federal Clean Vehicle Credit (IRC §30D) expired on September 30, 2025 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — no new EVs purchased on or after October 1, 2025 qualify. State incentives remain available: see our /deals page for current rebates in California, Maine, Colorado, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and other states. The Section 30C EV Charger Tax Credit (for home charger installation) expired June 30, 2026 — if your charger was placed in service on or before that date, you can still claim it (30% up to $1,000) on your 2026 return via IRS Form 8911.
How long will the Jeep Recon battery last?
Real-world data from EV fleets suggests modern lithium-ion EV batteries (2020+) retain roughly 85–90% of their original capacity at 100,000 miles and 80–85% at 200,000 miles.
What is the Jeep Recon battery warranty?
The Jeep Recon battery warranty is 8 years / 100,000 miles. Jeep hasn't published a capacity floor or transfer terms for it in the material we've read, so check the warranty booklet before you rely on either. Compare it with every other EV in our EV battery warranty rankings.
