The verdict

The Uncharted and the C-HR are closely related compact SUVs, and in all-wheel-drive form their published figures match: 338 hp, 287 miles of EPA range and 29 kWh/100 mi. What separates them is the lineup around that core. Subaru also sells a front-drive Uncharted Premium at $34,995 before destination, rated at 308 miles; against the 2027 C-HR SE AWD ($37,080 before destination, 287 miles) that is $2,085 less and 21 miles more, with one 221-hp motor instead of all-wheel drive. Like for like, the Toyota is cheaper: the C-HR SE AWD costs $2,715 less than the $39,795 Uncharted Sport, and Toyota publishes a 0-60 time for the C-HR (4.9 seconds) where Subaru publishes none for any Uncharted. Buy the Uncharted Premium FWD if you don't need all-wheel drive and want the most range for the least money; for all-wheel drive, the C-HR is the cheaper way in.

Same core, different lineups

On paper the all-wheel-drive versions are the same machine: the Uncharted Sport and GT and the C-HR SE AWD all make 338 hp with all-wheel drive, and EPA rates the Uncharted Sport and the C-HR identically at 287 miles and 29 kWh/100 mi. The Uncharted GT trades the Sport's 18-inch wheels for 20-inch ones and drops to 273 miles. Both pair a 74.7 kWh battery with a 150 kW fast-charging peak. The lineups are where they part. Subaru prices the 2027 Uncharted at $34,995 (Premium FWD), $39,795 (Sport) and $43,795 (GT), plus $1,475 destination, with no increase over 2026, and says the 2027 arrives at retailers this fall. Toyota prices the 2027 C-HR SE AWD at $37,080 and the XSE AWD at $39,080 before a $1,595 delivery charge, so the Uncharted brackets the SE: the front-drive Premium costs less, the Sport and GT more.

Range, speed and charging

The front-drive Uncharted Premium has the most range here, 308 miles, and uses the least energy by EPA's measure, 26 kWh/100 mi, from a single 221-hp front motor. Subaru publishes no 0-60 time for any Uncharted, so the table shows 'Not published' rather than borrowing the C-HR's 5.0 seconds, even for the all-wheel-drive versions with the same output. Fast charging is close: 28 minutes from 10 to 80% for the Uncharted and 30 for the C-HR in our table. Cargo is the one spec where the published figures don't settle it: Subaru's spec sheet gives the Uncharted 23.0 cubic feet of EPA cargo volume behind the rear seats while its own press release says more than 25, and our table lists 25 for the C-HR, so look at both in person if cargo space decides it.

Charging access and who each suits

Both have a native NACS port and plug straight into Tesla Superchargers without an adapter. Our NACS data says the C-HR ships with a complimentary adapter for older CCS1 fast chargers; the Subaru documents we've read don't say whether the Uncharted includes one. Our insurance, resale and warranty data don't cover either model yet. Buy the Uncharted Premium FWD if you don't need all-wheel drive and want 308 miles for $34,995. Buy the C-HR SE AWD if you want all-wheel drive for the least money, $1,345 under the Uncharted Sport. The Sport matches the C-HR's published output and range for more money, and the GT adds 20-inch wheels and gives up 14 miles, so if you prefer the Subaru, compare equipment and the out-the-door deal.

Frequently asked questions

Are the Subaru Uncharted and Toyota C-HR the same car?
They're closely related. In all-wheel-drive form both make 338 hp, and EPA rates the Uncharted Sport and the C-HR SE AWD identically at 287 miles and 29 kWh/100 mi. Both use a 74.7 kWh battery, a 150 kW fast-charging peak and a native NACS port. Subaru also sells a front-drive Uncharted Premium (221 hp, 308 miles, $34,995) that has no counterpart in our C-HR data.
Is the Subaru Uncharted or Toyota C-HR cheaper?
It depends on the drivetrain. The cheapest Uncharted, the front-drive Premium at $34,995 before destination, costs $2,085 less than the $37,080 C-HR SE AWD. With all-wheel drive the Toyota is cheaper: the Uncharted Sport is $39,795 and the GT $43,795. Subaru adds a $1,475 destination charge.

How fast is the Subaru Uncharted 0-60 compared with the Toyota C-HR?
