The verdict

Both are new for 2027 and only now reaching the US: the Volvo EX60 is orderable at official prices, with deliveries later this year by Volvo's account, and BMW's US launch of the iX3 was set for late September 2026. On the published figures, the iX3 is the range pick, rated at 383 to 434 miles against 295 to 330 across the EX60 lineup. The EX60 answers with price, charging speed and a choice of powertrains: the rear-drive P6 Plus starts at $58,400 before destination, $3,100 below the $61,500 iX3, and the all-wheel-drive P10 AWD Plus, at $60,750, is both cheaper and quicker than the iX3 (4.4 seconds to 60 against 4.7). Volvo also quotes a 16-minute 10-80% charge, against 21 minutes for the BMW in our table. Both have native NACS ports. Buy the iX3 if range comes first; buy the EX60 if you'd trade some range for a lower price and shorter charging stops.

Status and price

Volvo opened US orders for the 2027 EX60 on May 18, 2026, with four versions: the rear-drive P6 Plus ($58,400) and P6 Ultra ($65,000), and the all-wheel-drive P10 AWD Plus ($60,750) and P10 AWD Ultra ($67,350), all before a $1,395 destination charge. In June Volvo said US deliveries begin later this year, which is why we list the EX60 as upcoming. Our table lists one iX3, the 2027 iX3 50 xDrive at $61,500, with US deliveries timed for late September 2026. The Ultra trims add ventilated Nappa leather and a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and that puts the price ladder either side of the BMW: the P10 AWD Plus costs $750 less than the iX3, the P10 AWD Ultra $5,850 more.

Range, efficiency and performance

Range is the iX3's clear advantage. EPA rates the iX3 at 383 to 434 miles; the EX60 P6 at 295 to 307 and the P10 AWD at 312 to 330, with the lower figures on 22-inch wheels. We couldn't confirm which EX60 trims offer those wheels, so each powertrain carries its full span. The EX60 is the more efficient car by EPA's measure (29 kWh/100 mi for the P6 and 30 for the P10, against 32 for the iX3), which shows up in charging cost per mile rather than range. On acceleration the EX60 lineup brackets the BMW: the 369-hp P6 needs 5.7 seconds to 60 mph, the 503-hp P10 AWD 4.4, and the 463-hp iX3 4.7. Cargo space behind the rear seats is nearly identical, 18.5 cubic feet for the EX60 against 18 for the iX3.

Charging at home and on the road

Both have a native NACS port and plug straight into Tesla Superchargers; Volvo calls the EX60 its first car with one, and says Plug & Charge will work at Superchargers and IONNA stations when deliveries begin. Volvo quotes 10-80% in as little as 16 minutes for both EX60 powertrains, at up to 320 kW (P6) or 370 kW (P10). Our table lists 21 minutes for the iX3, with a 400 kW peak in our NACS data, so the Volvo's shorter stop comes despite the BMW's higher peak. At home, the EX60's 19.2 kW onboard charger fills it in about 8 hours (P6) or 9 hours (P10) on a 48-amp circuit, against about 10 hours for the iX3 in our table.
